Management

I had just told a friend yesterday that Management topics are easy, or is it? Maybe it is harder to practice it in real life situations than what is being preached.
Management in all business areas and organisational activities are the acts of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives efficiently and effectively. Management comprises planning, organising, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organisation (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses the deployment and manipulation of human, financial, technological, and natural resources.
Sounds easy? An exam-type question like this asking about the definition of Management typically only requires some elaboration on the points mentioned above plus quoting some practical examples and it will be around 25-30points.

What qualities must a person have to begin with in order to have a place on the hot seat? To be able to accomplish the above flawlessly while maintaining the staffs' morale? Just any Tom, Dick, Harry, Mary, Jane or Grace with a degree? The lines are blurring very fast in my opinion with the over-emphasis on paper qualification in our society today.

However after seeing so many failures before me in my career, I should not have any qualms about stepping up into a management role in future if I do get a chance.

Time to go for another farewell lunch @ Marina Square Yuki Yaki, to send off another victim who cannot withstand the realm of an incompetent manager.
